Hi everyone, I am an undergrad at the University of Wisconsin. Basically, I have been here for over 4 years now and have changed my majors multiple times, and I've since been dead set on trying to get into the Computer Engineering department. The thing is though, Financial Aid Dept here is refusing to fund me if I don't get into my department after this semester unless I take an alternate major that I can declare now. The problem is I am not doing too hot and will not likely gain admission for the second consecutive semester in trying. It's really late into the game obviously and I see where fin aid is coming from, but I know this is what I want to do. My collegiate career to this point had been marred with personal tragedy and depression and possibly untreated ADD. I keep wanting to pursue this degree and I want it desperately for it to be from UW and not elsewhere due to it's prestige and the fact that I've been well entrenched in the student community here. Once I get into the department, Financial Aid will continue to fund me, but it looks like this semester I may have to withdraw due to my grades not being as high as they need to be for admission and I'd rather not jeopardize my last chance at this major and am considering either taking time off next semester, or trying to take those classes again, get the grades I need, and get the financial aid I need. I hope this made any sense...I am going through a rough patch. Thank you all in advance for reading this, hope to hear back.... Read More »
