Open Question: University of Wisconsin-Madison - anyone know anything about it?

Okay, so I'm considering the University of Wisconsin - Madison. My major will likely be either English or teaching. The thing I have the most questions about is just the student life there. Haven't had a chance to visit the campus yet, but can anyone tell me how large it is? How long would it take to walk across the campus? How's the student to faculty ratio? Is the population "too big"? Is it real easy to get lost in the crowd there, or is it mostly alright? Sorry, this is a lot of questions but I'd really appreciate any info anyone has. Thanks :-)...
